Pink and green button brads add dimension to the border on this sweet layout.

Because they look like buttons, button brads are a perfect way to add decorative color and dimension to your projects. Because they’re brads, they’re easy to add to your projects and are great for attaching overlays, journaling, ribbons, photos, vellum and more.

And not only will button brads boost the color and dimension on your projects, they’ll also add texture! The top of each of these cool brads is embossed with either a 2-hole or 4-hole button style, complete with faux-stitching. Button brads are adorable when used as is, but we also love the embossed surface for sanding or inking and stamping with a StazOn ink pad (available in black, brown and white). Distressed button brads make a chic and stylish statement on vintage-style projects! Read on to see how LeNae used button brads both decoratively and functionally on her latest “thank you” card design.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Place the card with the fold at the top, then cover the card front with light brown textured paper. Cut a 1 1/2” wide strip of brown multi stripes paper with the stripes running width-wise, then glue flush against the left edge of the card front, trimming the excess paper even with the top and bottom edges of the card.
  2. Cut out the purple and blue border and glue it overlapping the seam between the light brown textured and brown multi stripes papers on the card front, trimming the excess border even with the top and bottom edges of the card. Cut out the “Thanks” tile and use foam tape to secure it 7/8" from the bottom of the card, overlapping the purple and blue border. Accent the border with three small button brads, placing one just below the “Thanks” tile and two more centered above the tile.
  3. Cut a 3 1/4"x4 3/8" piece of brown multi stripes paper with the stripes running horizontally, then glue centered over the light brown textured portion of the card front. Cut the quote to a 3 1/4"x3 1/8" rectangle and mat on bronze glimmer paper, trimming the mat to 3/16". Cut out the “friend” tab and glue it extending off the top right side of the quote. Cut one 2 1/2” length each of brown grosgrain and olive green grosgrain ribbon, trimming the tails of each at an angle. Holding the ribbons together, fold both ribbon lengths in half and use a medium button brad to attach the folded ends in the bottom left corner of the quote. Glue the quote centered over the brown multi stripes paper piece.
