Covering the Card Front

Everyone loves a handmade card. Handmade cards are a simple way to send a heartfelt greeting—one of love, thanks, birthday wishes, etc.—to someone you care about. Even better, they’re fun to create and simple to make.

How can you make a personalized handmade greeting card for someone you love? It’s simple. All you’ll need is a blank white card, plus the papers you want to decorate it with. Here’s some basic tips on how to cover the blank card with paper.

Covering the Card Front:

First, select the paper you want to use for the background on your card front. Cover the outside edges of the card front with glue (it’s not necessary to saturate the card with glue).

Next, place your paper on the card front, lining up two sides evenly with the card front. Tip: it’s actually easiest to place your paper white side up on your work surface, then place the card onto the paper, aligning two straight edges.

Smooth the paper down, then turn the card over and trim the excess paper from the other two card edges. Save the extra paper—it can be used for a great border inside the card or for another card!
