Tying Fibers on a Tag
By Angie Felix

Tags are a fantastic accent for a page, a card, or even alone—but sometimes they need a little decorative boost. Fibers are a wonderful way to add a touch of texture, dimension and flair to a tag of any kind.

You can add fibers to a tag in two main ways: 1) Punching a hole at the tag top and threading the fibers through, or 2) Knotting the fibers or tying a bow and attaching with a Glue Dot™. Punching a hole is typically how a group of lumpy fibers is attached to a tag.

Tying on lumpy fibers:

Step 1. Punch a hole in the top of your tag—the 1/16” and 1/8” punches are perfect for this—or insert an eyelet.

Step 2. Thread a thin fiber through the hole or eyelet. Step 3. Lay the additional fibers across the thin fiber. Step 4. Tie the thin fiber around the lumpy fibers. Step 5. Tie the lumpy fibers together.

Attaching a bow with Glue Dots™:

To make the Shoestring Bow:

Step 1. Measure the tail lengths from the end of the ribbon to create tails of the desired length. Then make a loop of the desired length. Step 2. Wrap the free end of the ribbon loosely around the center of the loop. Step 3. Form a loop in the free end of the ribbon and push it through the center loop. Step 4. Pull the loops in opposite directions to tighten. Trim the tails at an angle.

Adhere a Glue Dot™ to the back of the knot in the bow and press onto the tag to attach.

(For a different look, you can also knot a piece of ribbon and attach the knot to the tag with a Glue Dot™.)
